My Holiday Haul
The holidays are for giving, not receiving, but I can’t help but want to show off a few of the fun things that came my way this holiday season from family and friends.
Some of the highlights are:
- Belle and Ariel toddler dolls from Disney Animator Collection
- A new vintage Skipper doll tray puzzle in nice condition
- Danse (from Jem!)
- Two Monster High Create a Monster starter sets and the Skeleton Girl expansion (a total shock and tons of fun!)
- A Charlie Brown Skididdler (adding to my collection of Snoopy and Lucy from last Christmas)
- A stuffed dog dressed as Santa built with love by my parents at Build-A-Bear
- A Hello Kitty themed Re-Ment ‘bakery case’ (for my Re-Ment, which have been sitting homeless for a few years now!)
Did you find anything fun under your tree (dolly or non dolly alike!)? Care to share? Leave a comment!
Tonner’s Doll Duels- A Unique Photo Sharing Site
Tonner has made huge leaps in the social media field this year with an interactive blog, a heavily updated facebook page, and plans to open a new Tonner.com very soon! This past week, Tonner opened a brand new website called Doll Duels. Doll Duels is a new, unique way to share your Tonner doll photos.
How does it work? It seems pretty simple. You upload the best shot of your Tonner doll (in my case The Doctor) and once it is okay’d by the administrators, it is entered into one on one ‘duels’ where viewers choose their favorite of two shots taken by two different people.
Right now, it seems they are only allowing actual Tonner dolls and not those of Wilde Imagination. Maybe one day they’ll open it up to Ellowyne? We have far more of those in my household than strict Tonner dolls (of which I own the Doctor, Captain Jack, a Betsy McCall and a Tyler Wentworth).
From what I understand of their fine print, the photographer retains all rights to their photograph, but does give Tonner the right to use the image royalty free for whatever they’d like.
If you have a Tonner doll, why not join in on the fun and submit a photo? If you don’t own a Tonner doll, it is worthwhile to check the site out anyways and vote for your favorite photos!
Merry Christmas from Confessions of a Doll Collectors Daughter!
Merry Christmas
to all my fine readers!
Congrats Maggie Iacono!
I’ve been a fan of Maggie Iacono’s felt dolls for years. I don’t own any and will probably never be able to afford one in my lifetime, but love the look of her doll designs. She has such an artistry that she brings to her doll creations– they’re just incredible. I mention Maggie because she is the recipient of the 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award by DOLLS magazine and will be celebrated at IDEX 2012 during the Debut of Dolls and DOTY Awards Banquet. In my opinion, Maggie totally deserves this award for her craftsmanship, artistry, and creativity!
Pictured above is Josette. She’s a 2011 release and limited to 60 pieces. From head to toe, she is adorable.
Another favorite of mine is 2005′s Caroline. How cute is she?! I love how she comes with a little dolly of her own.
I just discovered Liesel while looking for images for this post. There’s so much movement in this doll– I love it.
If you’re attending IDEX 2012, make sure you make time to stop by Maggie’s ‘Storytime’ program ($350.00) to get a souvenir 11″ creation. And don’t forget to watch her receive her award during the Debut of Dolls and DOTY Awards Banquet ($85.00)! And of course, take a peek at her website to see all her creations!
Congrats, Maggie! Well done!
Readers Poll— Who’s Your Favorite Frankie?
I’m trying something new today– a poll! I thought, with so many Monster High dolls out in such a short period of time, why not see which doll people seem to like best! With so many characters in the Monster High line, I am separating the polls by character and who better to start with than Frankie, the catalyst of the whole line.
Will you choose: Dawn of the Dance, B/W SDCC Frankie, Basic 1, Gloom Beach, Dead Tired, Classroom, School’s Out (Basic 2), Sweet 1600, or the not pictured Day at the Maul? Let your voice be heard with this poll!
